Because I could swear that bordeline mood swings are from environmental stimuli whereas bipolar is more chemical in temperament, or so the psychiatrists and pharmaceutical companies claimDoes anyone here know the distinction between bi-polar and bordeline character disorders?

Borderline mood swings are categorically all around the person's reactions to outside stimuli. The character can swing 180 degrees depending on how she perceives others are treating her (a big problem next to this personality is that they are so reliant on outside stimuli for validation and reassurance). Borderline are disreputably difficult to treat, passive-aggressive, narcissistic, and insecure - treatment often fail them because they change doctors frequently and tend not to follow medical counsel.
Bipolar patients swing between moods depending on their chemical imbalance. The moods can be muted, if controlled, through medication (talk therapy other helps within dealing with the unwell coping mechanisms that the merciful has set up within order to contract with the aforementioned chemical imbalance).
